The Fireworks will launch off the Newman Municipal Golf Course. Live Entertainment, Food, Children’s activities and more will be in Stewart Park where the official celebration will take place.

Schedule of Events
6pm – 9:30pm – Music, Games, and Picnic
9:30pm – National Anthem and Welcome from the Mayor
9:45pm – Fireworks Launch

Food Vendors
Concessions will be available for purchase including Hot Dogs, vegetarian items as well as beverages and sides. The funds from these will assist in funding the event.

Mayor Svante Myrick spearheaded the efforts to bring this important community celebration back to the City of Ithaca for the July 4th holiday in 2012.
“I worked hard to bring the fireworks back because Independence Day has always been my favorite holiday.  It’s one night where every family – no matter where you live, how much money you make, or what your political beliefs are – can come together and look up at the same shared night sky.  It’s a celebration of our Country’s independence, and a celebration of our entire community” said Myrick.

The fireworks will be launched from Newman Municipal Golf Course, which will be closed to pedestrian traffic at 9pm. The Waterfront Trail will reopen to pedestrian traffic after the display is complete.

Parking in Stewart Park will be limited to those requiring handicap accessible parking, event volunteers, and event sponsors and donors. Patrons can park and walk to the fireworks from Boynton Middle School or Ithaca High School by utilizing the entry and exit from Lake Street. Visitors may also Park and Ride the TCAT bus from Downtown Ithaca (Seneca St, Albany St, or Green St stops) plus regular stops serving Cayuga Street in Fall Creek.

Although fireworks may be seen from all over the City of Ithaca, these sites are not coordinated by the Fireworks Committee. The official viewing site is at Stewart Park.
You can park and walk to the fireworks at Boynton Middle School or Ithaca High School or you can Park and Ride the bus from Downtown Ithaca (Seneca St or Green St stops).

No transit from Boyton or High School? There is limited amount of parking at Green and Seneca; which makes it difficult for Handicap.

Thanks Trish. Although there is no shuttle from the school lots, there will be handicap accessible parking inside the park. Just show your handicap sticker or email ithacafireworks@gmail.com to get a dashboard permit.

It’s been pouring for days, so what’s the rain date? And if it’s rescheduled, where best to find out final decision about this?

The Ithaca Community Fireworks will now be held on Sunday, July 7 from 6 to 10pm. We did not want to interfere with other displays in the area and feel like this will be a great end to the 4th of July weekend. More updates to come!

There has been nothing said about a rain date. I know that we all hope there isn’t, but so far today, it doesn’t look very promising? Is there a rain date?

Is it still on? Looks like thunderstorms will be right over our heads when it’s time to shoot the fireworks. :-( Thank you so much to all who are involved in this and are trying to make it happen!!!

Is anybody monitoring this site? Just wondering if you realize that the Lansing fireworks are the same as Ithaca’s?

    Hi Julie,
We are aware that they are the same evening. We both set our dates well ahead of time. People on the lake will have an amazing night of viewing.
    Best,
    Vicki
